My family and I chose to make Maryborough our home nearly a decade ago. The support and goodwill we have received from locals in that time has been nothing short of incredible. And that’s why I am putting my hand up to represent the people of Maryborough in State Parliament.
Our community deserves an elected representative who will fight for them, and a government that can manage money to help keep the cost-of-living down.
Bruce Saunders and the tired Labor Government have stopped listening, and have failed to deliver on important infrastructure projects they promised for this region.
As an experienced business man and Greek immigrant, I want to help make Maryborough healthier and safer.
Born in Kalamata Greece, I served two years in the Military, becoming part of the Special Forces Unit, before joining my family’s construction business. I moved to Athens and worked for a commercial building firm. My wife Tricia and I met in Athens when she was visiting from New Zealand.
Together, in New Zealand and Australia, we spent a number of years managing a ski resort, with restaurant and conference facilities, and owned a lawn mowing and cleaning business for Body Corporates.
We owned and managed a number of lease hold and freehold motels in Brisbane, Rockhampton, Gladstone and Maryborough, where we proudly raised our son, Yannis, and daughter, Zoe.
For reasons that we still do not know or understand, our 17-year-old son, Yannis, took his own life. Since his death is 2018, Tricia and I have actively raised mental health awareness, through community events and sponsorships. We also developed a website in honour of Yanni, in the hope that sharing his story might help other young people who are struggling. That advocacy is something I hope to continue as your local representative in State Parliament.
In the lead up to the October 2024 State Election and beyond, I will be listening to locals, young and old, in every corner of the Maryborough electorate. I will be working with the Crisafulli LNP team to deliver the right priorities for Maryborough’s future.
